WHY THIS EXISTS

A question worth asking.

A high or low score describes these answers, not your worth or your rank among people. Read the five dimensions together and look for where context changes your behavior.

TRY THIS QUESTION

“Where do you feel more at ease: a lively group, a quiet conversation or time alone?”

Before you begin

After 50 public-domain IPIP questions, see all five trait averages on a 1–5 scale and an explanation of how to read them together.

There are no right answers. Use the result as a starting point for reflection and keep the parts that are useful in your own circumstances.

WHAT IT EXPLORES

5 themes, seen together.

  • ExtraversionThis dimension describes a tendency toward social engagement and outward expression. A lower score can reflect a preference for quieter settings; a higher score can reflect enjoyment of social stimulation. Neither is better.
  • AgreeablenessThis dimension concerns cooperation and consideration of others. Lower scores can include a more questioning approach; higher scores can include a stronger preference for harmony. Context matters on both sides.
  • ConscientiousnessThis dimension concerns organization and follow-through. Lower scores may go with a flexible, spontaneous rhythm; higher scores may go with planning and structure. The goal is to find systems you can actually use.
  • Emotional stabilityThis dimension describes reported emotional steadiness. A lower score reflects more frequent emotional shifts or stress in these answers; a higher score reflects fewer. This is a broad self-description, not a mental-health assessment.
  • Intellect / imaginationThis dimension concerns engagement with ideas, imagination and abstract thinking. A lower score can reflect a concrete, practical focus; a higher score can reflect enjoyment of conceptual exploration. It is not an intelligence score.
METHOD & LIMITS

Know what the result can say.

The 50 public-domain IPIP Big-Five Factor Markers, scored with their published key. We show average scores on a 1–5 scale, not population percentiles. The interpretation and exercises are original; this website has not been independently validated.

50 questions are scored from your answers. The result describes this set of responses; it is not a fixed identity or a comparison with everyone else.
